Types of Hotel Bellman’s Carts

Hotel bellman’s carts serve a number of purposes, but they are primarily used to transport clothing and luggage in a hotel. Guests enter the building, place their belongings on the cart, and get it to their rooms without having to carry it by hand. There are many types of bellman’s carts on the market, so you need to find the one that will best serve your hotel guests. Here is an overview to make the decision a little easier.

Standard Bellman’s Carts

As the name suggests, standard bellman’s carts are among the most common luggage carts used in hotels. They have a platform on wheels, topped with a frame of poles to hang clothing on. The poles double as containment devices to keep items from falling off the cart. Standard carts come in a range of colors and finishes, and they usually support 1,500 pounds.

Luxury Bellman’s Carts

Luxury bellman’s carts are just slight variations of standard bellman’s carts. They are usually more ornate, and they may include extra hooks or shelves. Luxury carts are slightly more expensive than standard carts, but they are well-suited for high-end hotels. Some luxury carts feature extra wheels to make them easier to maneuver.

Condo Bellman’s Carts

Condo bellman’s carts have multiple shelves on them so users can sort their luggage and other belongings. This is beneficial for families who make have several different sizes and shapes of bags. The diaper bag and car seat can go on one row, while the actual luggage goes on another. Condo carts do not have a lot of hanging room for clothing because of the shelves, but they usually have hooks or bars on the ends that can be used for that purpose.

Utility Bellman’s Carts

Utility carts are some of the most affordable bellman’s carts available because they lack many of the features that other carts have. Utility carts are usually platforms on wheels that have one or two upright frames. The frames do not create an arch like they do on standard carts. One side acts as a handle, and the other side (optional) acts as a support to keep the luggage contained. Utility carts tend to have a lower weight capacity than other carts, but they can still support around 1,000 pounds.

Important Considerations When Choosing Bellman’s Carts

If you are trying to find the right bellman’s carts for your hotel, keep these factors in mind:

  • Size of your elevators. Most guests will use the carts on the elevator, so you need to make sure the dimensions of the carts match the dimensions of the elevator. If you have an older hotel with small elevators, you may need a smaller cart.
  • Type of guests you get most often. Is your hotel mostly occupied by couples? Traveling businessmen? Families? Think of what your guests are most likely to bring with them, and find a cart that accommodates that.
  • Space you have to store the carts. If you do not have room for several large carts, you may need one or two smaller ones.
  • How easy the carts are to use. Most carts are designed to be easy to operate, but some have extra features to make them even easier. It may be worth the upgrade to create a better experience for your guests.
